Property Brokers named Temporary Accommodation Service property management provider

ree

That’s why we’re incredibly proud to share that Property Brokers has been appointed as the national Property Management Service provider for the Temporary Accommodation Service (TAS) within the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE).

TAS offers temporary accommodation support to people across Aotearoa who have been displaced from their damaged homes following a civil defence emergency or natural disaster.

The service helps place eligible households into temporary accommodation while their properties are repaired or they find somewhere else to live longer-term - and now, Property Brokers will be at the forefront of managing the provision of temporary accommodation throughout the country.

This isn’t our first time responding in a crisis.

From Cyclone Gabrielle to the Wairoa floods, our property managers have worked alongside affected communities to support urgent repairs, temporary tenancies, and tenant welfare.

We know what it takes to manage with empathy under pressure.

“Our team doesn’t just manage properties. We care for people,” says David Faulkner, General Manager of Property Management at Property Brokers.

"We’ve built a property management model that puts people first - backed by national systems, local knowledge, and a commitment to do what’s right for households in distress.”

With more than 80 branches across New Zealand, we’re built for coverage and consistency. But we also bring strong regional relationships to the table.

Through our partnerships, we can offer delivery in every region, from Auckland to Invercargill.

Our in-house systems allow us to track occupancy data, arrears, and maintenance in real time.

And with all TAS part payments held in a ringfenced, auditable trust account, MBIE can have full confidence that financial stewardship is being handled with integrity.

We know TAS supports some of our most vulnerable Kiwis - families with children, elderly residents, or people recovering from traumatic events.

That’s why our staff receive specialised training in privacy, child protection, hardship support, and culturally responsive care.

Whether it’s connecting households with local support networks or explaining occupancy agreements in plain English, our team is here to help people navigate the unexpected with compassion and clarity.

As New Zealand continues to face the increasing impacts of climate events, we’re ready to respond.

Property Brokers is proud to stand beside MBIE and TAS, offering safe, warm, and well-managed temporary homes for those who need them most.

“We’re here for the long haul - and we’re ready to step up when it matters most,” says Faulkner.
